Statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist. I make audio-visual and kinetic installations, short experimental films, and participate in projects in the overlapping fields of visual art, theatre and music.
I have a fascination with the influence that technological inventions in the modern age have had on contemporary (visual) culture. Once, all these inventions -from the lineair perspective in Renaissance painting, through the development of photography and cinema in the 19th century and radio and television and the digital media of the 20th century- were regarded as ‘new media’ and have led to new scientific and philosophical insights and new forms of art.
Another recurring theme in my work is the concept of time. Time itself, the perception of time and the different concepts of time that were developed throughout the history of art and science, are the main sources of inspiration in my work. Therefore, all of my works are always dynamic and time based.
It is from this point of view that i develop my projects and deliberately search for ‘new’ forms of art. As a consequence, form and content always more or less coincide with each other in my projects.
